There is a cohesive, whole-school approach to assessment with robust systems in place to ensure that the teachers are accurate in their judgements of pupils’ progress and attainment.
Governors have a clear and accurate understanding of the school’s strengths and areas for improvement.
Leaders have developed and put in place a curriculum that makes learning relevant and exciting for pupils. Reading, writing and mathematics are taught extremely effectively. There is a strong focus on ensuring that pupils develop a secure knowledge of the use of phonics and can then apply these skills in their reading.
Highly effective links are made between subjects through the thematic approach to learning that is now established in school. The topics are well planned to enable pupils to make strong progress in subjects such as history, geography, art and design technology.
Pupils’ spiritual, moral and social development is supported extremely well.
