Additional Needs
At Mappleborough Green CE Primary School, we celebrate the unique contribution every child brings to our community, embracing diversity in culture, religion, and learning styles. We are deeply committed to providing an inclusive curriculum designed to ensure the best possible progress for all pupils, regardless of their needs or abilities. Our core aim is to raise achievement for everyone by actively identifying and removing barriers to learning, ensuring full physical and curricular access so that all children are valued, respected, and equal members of our school family.
For some children, ensuring this progress requires us to make special educational provision. This means providing support that is either additional to or distinctly different from the standard offering available to other pupils their age.
We always use our best endeavours to ensure every child with special needs receives the precise support required, and that they participate fully in school life alongside their peers.
Our primary approach begins with high-quality teaching, expertly differentiated for individual pupils; this is our first crucial step in responding to those who have, or may have, special needs. We regularly review the quality of this teaching for all pupils, including those at risk of underachievement, as the class teacher remains fundamentally responsible for the progress of every child in their classroom, even when supported by teaching assistants or specialist staff.
