Class 4

WELCOME TO CLASS 4!

OUR TEAM MEMBERS INCLUDE: MR MELLOWS, MRS LONGHI, MRS HANSEN,  & MRS WESTBURY.

Maths

KS2 Maths Homework Books cover specific areas of learning in each section, will be marked and then sent back home on Tuesdays, giving pupils a week to complete the next section. Children not completing the work set will be required to complete the work during Tuesday break-time at maths clinic.

Children will also be asked to practise their times tables and will also have access to online resources to embed learning in class.

Spelling

Spelling books will be issued during the second week back. Pupils are expected to complete one section of work each week and practise the accompanying spellings ready for a test on Wednesday.

Reading

We expect children to read regularly to an adult at home, every day if possible. Reading sessions should include discussion of characters and plots or retrieval of information.

Accelerated Reader reports will be sent home at the end of every half term, replacing the need for reading diaries. These reports will show you how many books your child has read, their performance on reading quizzes and their overall understanding of the books they choose.

Please ensure that your children’s reading books are in school every day as they will also read daily in school.

Millionaires’ Club will continue after a successful launch last year. Certificates will be awarded for children reaching a word count of 250k, 500k, 750k and 1 million words.
